Ken Nicol leaves Steeleye Span

I could say so much about Ken leaving Steeleye, but to say that I will miss him says it all.

He was great to work with, and to play golf with, and I will always think of his time in the band as good for Steeleye and good for me. I have wished him all the best with whatever he is doing, and we have planned a game of golf for later this year.

Steeleye will now do what we always do in these situations, and life goes on. Peter.

Steeleye Span Latest Tour Update

Hi everyone. Sadly Rick Kemp will not be touring with Steeleye for the April/May tour due to illness. He's OK but doesn't feel he is well enough to do it. He left his decision to the last minute in the hope that he might feel better.

We explored several alternatives including Tim Harries of course, but Tim could not make the front end of the tour, so Pete Zorn will be with us.

It's one step at a time and I will keep you informed of any definite plans.

See you on the road, Peter

Gigspanner's Christmas Special

We have now finalised all of the details surrounding Gigspanner's Christmas 'Special' which will be held in the beautiful Citadel Town of Rye, East Sussex.

The Venue chosen is the Rye Community Centre, Conduit Hill, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7LE

We have chosen Saturday the 13th of December as this will tie in with Rye's Christmas Market, and hopefully will present the opportunity of a really memorable day out.

If you really wanted to push the boat out, you could even make a weekend of it and explore the intriguing cobbled Streets and Lanes of this unique and Historic Town. Shopping and Eating opportunities abound :-)

http://www.visitrye.co.uk

The idea of this one-off event is to celebrate the recent release of our Album 'Lipreading the Poet' and to make the Gig very special, we have invited the legendary Sax player Trevor Watts to join us on a few numbers.

Some of you may know that I have a long standing History with this most remarkable Musician, and we recently played together at the Southbank's Purcell Room.

I have today been sent a review of the Gig from 'The Wire', and you may check it out here:

Review: Trevor Watts and Peter Knight

During this performance, we explored some Traditional material as well of a couple of my own compositions that some of you will be familiar with via my work with Steeleye Span, and we will be using these as a foundation for Gigspanner to build on. The results should be rather special.

The rest of the Gig will include tunes from the new Album, and plenty of material that our fans are already familiar with.

August 12th 2006 Just a quick note to say that I have now posted the Steeleye Autumn tour dates on the Gigdates page.

July 26th 2006 Hi all. All's well on the music front. Steeleye have been rehearsing songs for a new studio album to be released in time for the Winter tour later this year, November/December. Some dates are already confirmed but I tend to wait for Park records to give me the dates for the complete tour before posting them on the gigdates page. 'Gigspanner' will be playing at the 'Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival' on Hastings beach on September 23rd.

I have a few days to work on some new material and then it's into a few festivals with Steeleye and 'Feast Of Fiddles' and then into the studio during August to record the new Steeleye Album. I will be recording a new solo CD before not too long.

April 21st 2006 Just a short note to say thanks to all visitors to this site. Your regular interest and support is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The feast of Fiddles tour was a huge success as usual, and this year we are playing a few festivals. I have put the dates up on the
gigdates page. It's such a great band of musicians and a huge thanks to our wonderful leader Hugh Crabtree who never ceases to amaze us.

It's the Steeleye tour in a few days so no doubt I will see some of you then. In the meantime, I hope that all is well with you and thanks again for your interest. All the best for now, Peter.

February 3rd 2006 The dates for Steeleye Span's spring tour are now posted on the gigdates page. hopefully I will be posting some details of some of'Tanna's US gigs later today.

November 12th 2005 Looks like 2006 will be a busy year. I have updated the Gigdates page with all gigs and tours that are confirmed so far. Details will follow. Well done to all new and regular visitors for your interest and contribution to the guest book. I thought everyone showed a lot of restraint during the short period of abuse.

My latest solo CD 'Too Late For Shadows' is receiving some air play, and as 'Gigspanner' plays a few tunes from that CD, I am talking with one radio station about recording a live session for them. I'll let you know when to tune in.

More later..................

August 28th 2005 Steeleye Span will be touring the UK next year from the end of April to the end of May 2006. There will be another tour later in 2006.

I have posted some more guest book entries for your interest.

March 9th 2005 I am pleased to announce that I have finished my latest CD and it will be available in about two weeks time. It is currently being pressed. If you wish to place an early order, the CD will be dispatched to you on the release date, which I anticipate will be March 21st.
