72 Historic string packages from the collection of Kevin Fagerberg, violin repair technician at The Violin Shop in Lincoln, Nebraska.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin and his wife Nancy during Steeleye Span's American tour last year (Sept. 2000). Kevin is an amateur fiddle player and a professional repairer who has compiled this wonderful collection of old violin string packets. He kindly sent me these pictures as a gift and I asked his permission to post them on my site. Thanks Kevin.

'Eb English'

A drawing by Craig aged five.

This drawing was sent to me by Jenn, a pre-school teacher who likes to incorporate music in her classes. On this occasion she played 'An Ancient Cause' and asked the children to draw what they felt as they listened. Jenn kindly sent the picture to me. How could it not go into the showcase. Well done Craig and thank you. It's a beautiful drawing.

"PEAR TREE GARDEN"

A painting by Michael Higgins. (watercolor and gouache on paper.)

Michael kindly gave his permission to share this wonderful painting with us.

To enjoy and appreciate the creative gifts of others is one of life's true pleasures. To be the recipient of a dedicated work of art is a gift beyond measure, and I was deeply touched and honoured to be presented with this beautiful painting by Michael Higgins.

It depicts with vibrancy and spontaneity a favourite corner of my garden at Pear Tree Cottage, and it was a joy to be able to share it with Michael when he visited during May of last year.

Through Peter's chatroom many of us have come to know him as a dear and genuine friend.
